The Peanut Gallery

When was the last time we felt like this? Being in the North East region of America is insulating and recently New York City unveiled itself. For one night we went way way back. In attempting to figure out a way I believe the throughline of compassion, joy, kindness and patience is yielded by triumph. The Knicks winning encapsulates the numerous reasons why an audience comes together. To gather is a foreign concept decades into the digitals and a few years post-covid. People take photos of their food, scroll on instagram before they tell someone good morning, it's awkward to make eye contact on the subway. But being neck and neck after you were just down thirty points and then winning with a buzzer beater tunes people in. The unity of people working hand and hand. The mutual exhaustion from grueling labor evokes empathy as does being inspired by witnessing the evolution of others. It seems that all this yearning for better perished the nonchalant bubbles many new yorkers had been residing in. It was refreshing to feel like it was 2016 again.
