Christina Yang
Lately, I've been thinking about the misinterpretation of Christina Yamng. Christina Yang is a fictional character from Grey's Anatomy, but also a heroine to many young girls, society, and the patriarchy would love to lead astray. Chrisyina Yang is focused on her goals; she is not palatable. She is kind and does not tolerate disrespect. She is often villainized for being cold, but the truth is, she is the antithesis of a submissive, insecure woman who wants validation. Christina believes in herself and is not concerned with pandering to people she does not value or respect. So often she is met with people who criticize her and present themselves as aiding in her refinement but because she knows who she is she viciously decides to honor her intentions. Watching Christina Yang is a slow burn. She has a soul tie with cardiology, and it is later revealed that when she was young, she was in a car accident with her dad and felt his heart stop. Christina Yang sat on a bathroom floor, appalled that she was distraught over a man who wanted to morph her into something she wasn't, despite having built a life for herself that she admired. Christina Yang does not spend time trying to tell people she is a "good person." She is just Christina. I think we could all take Shonda Rhimes's cue and embody our awareness of our self-concept. Reflection has also made me think of what it means to have established a well-built character. I guess that giving them unforgettable moments that show the audience a clear portrait of who she is. Also, allowing the canvases to be distorted every now and again. Not being discouraged from creating something that is unfamiliar or potentially perceived as undesirable. To create authentically.
