Isabella's think piece on Met Gala 2025

 I am pleased to note that this years theme the M.E.T Gala will be "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style".  As we take a stoll through history we will be able to honor and pay omage to black men. Black mena have and continue to contribute to fashion in tremendous ways. I think this years theme is a beautiful leap towards inclusion in the fashion industry. Due to the prestiege and orgin the Met Gala might be expressed as elitism or patricrical, sexualiing , and prejudical. I have to acknowle the small victories in order to get past surreal losses. We took a loss this week. Shameless to say I thought we had it in the bag. At least we have an opportunity to correct the tainted lenses with the Met Gala. It is not THE step but it is a step in the right direction. I always thought when it came to our culture that credit was not given although America does thrive on the backs of black people. I think that if this year we are going to finally shed light on how overlooked,undervalued, and iniized our creations are. As an artist I am pleased to finally see a shift in out "preferance" of individuals. This indicates something new and fresh. This year I hope to see people who don't all look the same. Variety of complexions, incomes, hair types, industries, sizes, religions, sexualites, nationaliteis and more. If I where making the list of the 2024 Met Gala 50 I think these people should be present.
